All About the Racoon Butterflyfish

In this article, we'll be learning about a prevalent and active butterfly fish and also a very peaceful fish to have in the tank, the Racoon Butterflyfish.
Prices: You'll have to spend about $70 to get a juvenile. You'll have to pay more if you want one bigger in size.
Tank Size: They need at least a 120-gallon tank by the end of their lifespan.
Care Level: Easy. They are great beginner fish and great for anybody at all levels of the hobby.
Temperament: Very peaceful. They aren't very aggressive with other fish, whether big or small. Be it Gobbies; they don't even mess with them. So, overall they are very peaceful fish that doesn't get territorial in the tank.
Reef Compatibility: No, the problem is they can get very picky with certain corals. They will pick at coral and even inverts. A lot of their natural diet in the wild is corals and inverts. So, they'll be chasing those things and looking for them in the tank to eat.
So, if you have a full-blown-out reef tank that you don't want to get picked on, stay away from these fishes.

Some Butterflyfishes are known to perish when there are spikes in the water. So be cautious, keep up with your water changes, and watch your levels to make sure they are pristine. That way, you have a very happy Butterflyfish in the tank.
Appearance
Maximum Size: They can get a whopping 8-inches. Most of the time, most can hit about 6-inches long, and some can get even bigger.
Diet
They are an omnivore and eat lots of different things. So, you want to try to have a variety of food in your tank to feed them, especially when introducing them into the tank. So, please provide them with frozen food, dry seaweed, pellets, and flakes.
You can also try to feed them microalgae, tubeworms, or Anemones.
Compatibility
They do well in fish only with live rock tanks. Whether they are in a tank with tiny fish or they can get even in a tank with larger fish and will do good.
However, do not house them with another Racoon; you can accommodate them with other species of Butterflyfishes.
