All About the Bumblebee Snails

In this article, we are learning all about the Bumblebee Snails.

Price: $2 per snails

Tank Size: It doesn't matter. They can be in tanks as small as nano, to as big as a 300-gallon reef. Most important is making sure they have plenty of food to eat. A typical tank for these snails is a deep sand bed and plenty of live rocks where they can go scavenging.

Care Level: Super easy. You should not have any problem taking care of them, whether you are a beginner or an expert in this hobby.

They are also very peaceful snails. They are very tiny so you don't have to worry about tumbling over corals or messing up your rock structure like a Turbo snail will.

Reef Compatability: A definite yes. They eat algae off the rocks and go after leftover food and dead organisms in the tank. If you are someone who feeds plenty of food like Mysis, Pellets, and Flakes, don't worry about a piece not getting eaten. Because once the lists go out, these snails will come out and take care of it for you. They also eat detritus.

On top of that, they can also burrow in the sand, usually looking for worms, so if you get plenty of them in there. Them burrowing in and out of the sandbed will keep them nice and pretty, too. They will not mess with your corals. Plus, with their tiny build, they can get close to the corals for cleaning.

Water Parameter

Temperature: 72-78 F

dKH: 8-12

pH: 8.1- 8.4

Salinity: 1.023- 1.025

Your water levels are very important when it comes to inverts because they can be very sensitive to changes. A spike in nitrates or an acclimation too quickly, causing the salinity not to match, can cause them to parish. So, take your time with drip acclimation when you get them and stay on top of the water changes.

Appearance

These snails stay super small in their tiny shells. So you will not have to worry about them getting too big or just becoming too big for your Nano tank. Its color is one of the main things people love buying these snails. The alternating stripes catch you.

Diet

They are omnivores. They eat about everything you need them to. One thing to keep in mind is when the tank begins to run out of things for snails to eat, they can go after your other snails.

These snails come from all over the Indo-Pacific region. They also reproduce easily, so you might start seeing their population grow.
