About Yellow Splatter Hammer Euphyllia

General information

In general, corals from the genus Euphyllia have long tentacles that may stretch out 2 to 4 inches and are usually extended out most of the time. When the polyps are retracted, you can clearly see that each corallite is completely separated from each other and is encased by its own wall.

For the Yellow Splatter Hammer Euphyllia, they are predominatly colored bright gren with neon yellow tips. This are the water parameters for cultivating Yellow Splatter Hammer Euphyllia:

  • Calcium: 420 – 440 ppm
  • Alkalinity: 2.86 – 3.93 MEQ/L (8 – 11 dKH)
  • Phosphates: 0
  • Magnesium: 1260 – 1350
  • Strontium: 8 -10
  • Temperature: 75° – 80° F (24° 27° C)
  • Salinity / Specific Gravity: 1.023 – 1.025
  • pH: 8.1 – 8.4

Diet & nutrition

The Yellow Splatter Hammer Euphyllia get its primary nutrition from the symbiotic zooxanthellae living within its tissues. However, we still do recommend you do supplemental feeding by adding mysis and brine shrimp.

Determining sex

A mature tank is highly recommended in propagating Yellow Splatter Hammer Euphyllia. They need to be set at the middle or bottom portion of the tank.

Breeding & spawning

Yellow Splatter Hammer Euphyllia requires moderate lighting and moderate to strong waterflow.

Diseases

The Yellow Splatter Hammer Euphyllia is prone to brown jelly infection, especially if there is minimal waterflow.

Origination

The Yellow Splatter Hammer Euphyllia can be found in the waters of the Indo-Pacific Ocean. They are considered as a threatened species listed under Appendix II of the CITES List, which means that their international trade is monitored.

Cautions

The Yellow Splatter Hammer Euphyllia has a semi-aggressive behaviour. With this, proper spacing in relation to other coral specimens is recommended.

Acclimation process

Since Yellow Splatter Hammer Euphyllia is a marine species, salinity must be entirely maintained at 1.023 to 1.025 specific gravity.
