About Red Encrusting Goni
General information
In general, corals coming from the genus Goniopora have numerous corallites that are walled invidually. Each corallite has a polyp that is usually exposed and extended. Their polyps are usually long, has a daisy-like tips each having 24 tentacles and sways like a flower tube.
As for the Red Encrusting Goni, they are predominantly colored red. This are the water parameters in cultivating Red Encrusting Goni:

- Alkalinity: 3.2 – 4.8 MEQ/L

- Magnesium: 1200 – 1350

Diet & nutrition
The Red Encrusting Goni get its primary nutrition from the symbiotic zooxanthellae living within its tissue. But on top of this, we still recommend you do supplemental feeding by adding mysis and brine shrimp. Further, the additional of dissolved organics is highly recommended.
Determining sex
A mature tank is highly recommended in propagating Red Encrusting Goni. They should be set on the middle or bottom part of the tank.

The Red Encrusting Goni requires moderate to strong lighting and moderate waterflow.
Diseases
The Red Encrusting Goni is susceptible to mortality caused by nutritional deficiencies. With this, the addition of supplemental nutrition and nutrients is highly recommended.
Origination
The Red Encrusting Goni can be found in the waters of the Indo-Pacific Ocean, particularly in the Philippines and Indonesia. They are listed as a vulnerable species under Appedix II of the CITES list.
Cautions
The Red Encrusting Goni has an aggressive behaviour and may require adequate spacing in relation to other corals in the tank.
Acclimation process
The Red Encrusting Goni is purely marine. So, therefore, salinity must be maintained thoroughly at 1.023 to 1.025 specific gravity.
