About Blue Sea Fan

General information

The Blue Sea Fan has thick a branch with huge and long polyps. This are the water parameters for cultivatring a Blue Sea Fan:

  • Strontium: 8 – 12
  • pH: 8.1 – 8.4
  • Temperature: 72° – 78° F (22° – 26° C)
  • Salinity / Specific Gravity: 1.023 – 1.025

Diet & nutrition

Blue Sea Fans are not photosynthetic. Therefore, they require supplemental feeding such as live micro-plankton, baby brine shrimp and other foods for filter feeders. They further require the addition of nutrients such as calcium, strontium, Iodine and other trace elements.

Determining sex

A mature tank is highly recommended in propagating Blue Sea Fan. Fish are recommended as fish excretes nitrogen that can sustain the coral's growth.

Breeding & spawning

Since they are not photosynthetic, Blue Sea Fan only requires a low level of lighting. However, it needs a strong water flow since it is their ideal environment.

Cautions

While they are relatively peaceful, it is still recommended that you observe proper spacing with neighboring corals and anemones. Initially, you will need an underwater epoxy to anchor the Blueberry Sea Fan to a live rock.

Acclimation process

Blue Sea Fan are purely marine. So, therefore, salinity must be maintained thoroughly at 1.023 to 1.025 specific gravity.
