Platygyra sp
Water parameters are being added.
In general, corals coming from the genus Platygyra either comes in a massive or encrusting form. Instead of the typical circular shaped wall which is common in the Faviidae family, their corallite walls are long and elongated that usually creates a maze-like pattern.
For the Amazing Race Platygyra, they are predominatly colored green and purple. This are the water parameters for cultivating Amazing Race Platygyra:
Amazing Race Platygyra can survive without feeding courtesy from the nourishment it recieves from the symbiotic zooxanthellae that is living within them. However, we still do recommend you do supplemental feding by adding mysis and brine shrimp.
A mature tank is highly recommended in propagating Amazing Race Platygyra. They need to be set at the bottom portion of the tank where lighting and flow rate are in moderation.
Amazing Race Platygyra requires moderate lighting and moderate water flow.
Amazing Race Platygyra is susceptible to hair algae. This ussually occurs if the water flow is too low or not sufficient.
Amazing Race Platygyra can be found in the Indo-west Pacific Ocean. They are now listed under Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), which means that their global trading is now monitored.
Amazing Race Platygyra must be set in the tank with enough spacing in relation to other coral species.
Since the Amazing Race Platygyra is a marine species, salinity must be entirely maintained at 1.023 to 1.025 specific gravity. They should be immediately set to its receiving substrate like rocks and be permanently positioned using gel glue so that the colonization process can commence.
