About Neolamprologus similis

General information

The Similar Shell Dweller is a small, freshwater fish that is native to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. They are a popular species for aquariums due to their interesting behavior and unique appearance. Similar Shell Dwellers are known for their habit of living in empty snail shells and rock crevices.
Similar Shell Dwellers have a torpedo-shaped body and are generally a brownish-yellow color with vertical stripes. They have a dark stripe that runs through their eye, and their fins are usually transparent or lightly colored. Males are typically larger and have more elongated fins than females.
Similar Shell Dwellers are peaceful and relatively easy to care for, making them a good choice for community aquariums. However, they can be territorial when breeding and may attack other fish that come too close to their shell. They prefer to live in groups of their own species and will defend their territory fiercely.
