Golden Arowana

Golden Arowana is a freshwater fish that belongs to the Osteoglossidae family. It is a highly prized and popular ornamental fish among aquarium enthusiasts. The fish is native to Southeast Asia, specifically Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. 
Golden Arowanas are known for their elongated, streamlined bodies and unique coloration. They have large, metallic scales that can range in color from gold to silver. They also have a distinctive reddish-orange or gold coloration pattern on their fins, tails, and gill covers. These fish can grow up to 3 feet in length and can weigh up to 6 kg. 
Golden Arowanas are known for their aggressive and territorial nature. They are solitary fish and should be kept alone or with fish of similar size and temperament. These fish are known for their jumping ability, and owners should ensure that the aquarium has a secure lid to prevent them from jumping out. 
The Golden Arowana is protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). They are classified as endangered due to overfishing, habitat loss, and pollution. It is illegal to trade or export this species without the proper permits and documentation. As a result, captive-bred individuals are more commonly available in the aquarium trade.

Golden Arowanas are carnivorous and feed primarily on other wild fish, crustaceans, and insects. In captivity, they can be fed a diet of live or frozen foods such as shrimp, crickets, and small fish. It is important to ensure their diet is balanced and provides all the necessary nutrients for their health and growth.

Golden Arowanas are native to slow-moving rivers, streams, and lakes with heavily vegetated areas. They prefer water that is slightly acidic and soft. In captivity, they require a large aquarium with plenty of swimming space, hiding places, and a well-filtered environment. Arowanas are also sensitive to water quality and require frequent water changes.
