About Chocolate Gourami

General information

The Chocolate Gourami is a type of gourami which have a chocolate body with golden bands that is named after. It is a shy, peaceful fish and sensitive fish needs extra effort to be housed in home aquaria.

Diet & nutrition

Omnivorous. The Chocolate Gourami would take variety of foods like flake, pellet, live and frozen.

Breeding & spawning

Mouthbrooder. Difficult to breed. The male keeps 20-40 eggs in its mouth for 14-20 days for incubation. The fries grow very slowly.

Origination

They are native to Borneo, Malay Penunsula and Sumatra.

Sensitive to water parameters.
