Marbled Headstander

The Marbled Headstander can grow up to 8 inches in length and requires a tank size of at least 50 gallons. They are peaceful fish that can be kept with other non-aggressive species. They prefer a planted tank with moderate to high lighting and a sandy substrate. The ideal water temperature for this species is between 73°F and 79°F.

The Marbled Headstander is an omnivore and will eat a variety of foods, including flake food, pellets, and frozen or live foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp. They also enjoy vegetable matter, such as blanched spinach or zucchini.

Breeding the Marbled Headstander can be challenging and requires a separate breeding tank with soft, slightly acidic water. Spawning typically occurs in the early morning, and the female will lay up to 500 eggs on the underside of leaves. The parents should be removed from the breeding tank once spawning is complete.
