Shadow catfish

The Shadow Catfish is a freshwater fish that can grow up to 6 inches in length. They have a flat and elongated body with a yellowish-brown coloration and a darker stripe running along the length of their body. They are primarily nocturnal and are often found hiding in crevices and caves during the day.  Shadow Catfish require a moderate to large-sized aquarium with plenty of hiding places such as caves, driftwood, and plants. They are peaceful and can be kept with other non-aggressive species. They prefer a pH range between 6.0 to 7.5 and a temperature range between 72 to 79°F.

Shadow Catfish are omnivorous and will accept a wide variety of foods such as pellets, frozen and live foods, and vegetable matter. They should be fed a balanced diet consisting of both animal and plant-based foods.

There is limited information on breeding Shadow Catfish in captivity.

Shadow Catfish are generally hardy and not prone to many diseases. However, they may be susceptible to typical freshwater fish diseases such as bacterial and fungal infections, ich, and parasitic infestations.

Shadow Catfish are native to Southeast Asia and can be found in Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Shadow Catfish are not known to be aggressive towards humans but can be aggressive towards smaller fish.

Shadow Catfish should be acclimated slowly to the aquarium water parameters to prevent stress and shock. The drip acclimation method is recommended.
