PRICES: You will need to spend about $50 on one of these fish.

TANK SIZE: It is normally recommended to keep them in at least 75-gallon when you first get one as a juvenile, that time they will be just about 2-inches, but they like a good 4-feet tank at least as they are a hyper swimmer. They like to go back and forth constantly throughout the day.

So make sure you have a good long tank to get them plenty of room to swim.

CARE LEVEL: Moderate, Tangs just have a couple of things that you need to make sure, feed them good and put them with the right tank mates and they would not be tough to deal with.

TEMPERAMENT: They can be semi-aggressive, so tangs tend to be the kings and queens of the tank especially when they are in there for a little while, they definitely become the most territorial fish over time. Especially when adding new fish together with them.

REEF COMPATIBILITY: They are a great reef fish, they are really good about eating algae. They will be constantly running around picking around the rocks which they can very easily do with their scoop-shaped mouth.

So, if you have a hair algae issue they are really good for cleaning that up for you.

TEMPERATURE: You would like to clean it from 72-78.

dKH: 8-12

pH: 8.1-8.4

SALINITY: 1.020-1.025

MAXIMUM SIZE: They can get pretty large, about 8-inches as they get older. So, you definitely want to increase your tank size for this fish.

COLOR: They have really dark brown body which almost looks black with yellowtail and blue accent going along its eyes.

DIET: In the wild they are carnivores, but in the tank they become omnivore, they will be eating the shrimps that you feed them, they will be eating the sea veggies that you will feed.

Frozen cubes, Mysis, brown shrimps are the thing that they like. Since they are tangs so you will have to make sure that you feed them plenty of algae. You can feed them sea veggies, just cut it into 1-inch squares with little slits on it and put it in the tank, this way they can pick up little pieces and eat them at a time.

Feeding them algae will make their colors look really nice, it will keep them very healthy, it will keep bad bacteria really off them. It makes them much better fish for you.

ORIGIN: They do come from Indonesia.

COMPATIBILITY: It is recommended to have them in a larger tank if you are planning to house them with other tangs. These fishes tend to do good with other tangs but if they are in a large enough tank. You can keep them with Yellow tangs and others but add them to the tank at the same time, this way they would not get very territorial.

At least a 180-gallons tank is a must if you are planning to put it with other tangs, in that they all can be territorial in their own different spots in the tank and they will not keep chasing each other around.

Else then Tangs, they pretty much go well with any other fish like Clowns, Gobbies, and other fishes like this, this guy would not mess with them. The problem starts when there is another Tang in the tank.
