Top 5 Fish You Will Regret Buying... And Why!

Some fishes look like a great idea to buy when you are in your local fish store. They are so stunning that you forget about all the negative experiences you read online and listen only to the positive.

So, here is the list of top five fishes you'll regret buying the most:

Blue/Green Chromies

It is one of the most popular fish in the hobby. They have a beautiful bright color and shimmering scale, are relatively small, cheap to buy, reef safe, and of course, a shoaling fish that is the holy grail of fish behavior.

However, the reality is that they need a lot of food because they are constantly swimming, and pumping in loads of food will likely lead to your tank experiencing high nitrate and phosphate levels. They also always fight with each other and bully one another to death until you have only one left in the tank. If that's not enough, they don't even form a tight show.

They show together closely only when something spooks them, and they'll join together for just a few seconds until the coast is clear.

Scarrus Quoyi

Though occasionally, it can be worth taking a punt on a fish described as reef-safe with caution. With these fish, it is hard not to love them. There are plenty of reports online that these guys behave perfectly. They are fantastic colors, have a smiley faces, and eat algae.

But that smiley face is a lot less lovable when it's being stuffed with your most expensive corals.

Respledent Anthias

You can fish reliable sources online claiming that long-tail Anthias were much easier to feed amongst all the Antias and least likely to fight each other to death.

They will look stunning in your tank with bright pink colors. But, if something feels too good to be true, it usually is valid for these fishes.

Their colors will fade, and they will go from the vivid bright pink to the dubb drab bearing pink, followed by scrapping and bullying.

Purple Tang

Purple Tang is the most beautiful of all the other Tangs. It has an unusual deep purple body covered in lines of black dots and bright yellowtail that contrasts beautifully against the body. They are also absolutely destroyers of algae.

However, as they grow older, they can start harassing other fishes and chase around the tank all day.

Reef tanks are supposed to be relaxing, and the Purple Tang gives nothing but stress, thus its position on the list.

Harlequin Tuskfish

This fish has teeth like a vampire and is built like Mike Tyson. But, despite that, many people online describe them as very timid fish, and that description with the timid look will surely not be a good fit for many peaceful tanks.
