Top 5 Corydoras Catfish for Your Aquarium,

There are currently over 120 species of corydoras in the hobby; in this, we are pointing out the top favorites.

NOTE

  • Corydoras do great in school. So the larger the group, the better.
  • They are bottom dwellers.
  • Corys can breathe air.

Sterbai Corydoras

This is one of the hardiest corydoras. They come from Brazil, but what we get are mostly captive-bred.

Also, if you want to breed corydoras, this will be one of the best species you can start out with. Generally considered the easiest species to breed.

It's a larger species (<three inches in length).

Zinguensis Corydoras

You don't generally see them in chain stores or big box stores. But they are another very easy Cory to keep. They are not a dwarf species but can get to an inch and a half.

They are great for 20X20 tanks. Plus, they like cooler temperatures, so low to mid-70s.

Panda Corydoras

Like the Zinguensis species, these fishes also stay under two inches. They can also go on lower temperatures.

While all these will be farm bread, in the wild, they are found in water temperatures of the mid-60s. So definitely keep them with your discussion or Rams.

Corydoras Habrosus

If you are looking for a Corydoras for your 10-gallon aquarium, this fish is for you. They get just over an inch and love being in large groups.

Even though small, these fishes are not shy. The best part is that these fishes will school mid-water. They'll all group IP right in the middle of the water column and will just surf at one spot.

Corydoras Simlis

If you take the back half of the Panda Cory and the front half of the Zinguensis Cory and mash them together, this is what you'll get.

These fishes do not get bigger than two inches. They can grow from the low 70s to the low 80s, making them suitable for all aquarium setups, and are easy to breed.
