7 Tips for Keeping LPS Corals + Nice Reef Tank

The seven most important factors about keeping LPS corals are currents and temperature to coral stinging.

1. Best Food

LPS corals can eat Corsa food in contrast to SPS corals. For example, it is recommended to use Zooplankton, frozen food, lobster eggs, dry food, and artemia for more giant animals and fresh clams.

2. Water Parameters

LPS corals can handle fluctuations very well. However, at a Phosphate of 0.06, they start to stress. So, the higher, the better.

LPS tanks can handle parameters of more than 0.09 to 1.00 to about 2.5 phosphates. So please never do that with an SPS tank.

Nitrate has to be adjusted. So, if you have a phosphate of 0.1, it is best to change nitrate to 10. So, adjust phosphate to food, then adjust 100 times nitrate.

And, it is best to do KH about 8.0 to 8.5.

3. Best Beginner LPS

One of the best LPS corals you can choose is Indonesian Trachyphyllia. These animals inflate well.

Also, you can use Scoly. They are easy to keep, and it doesn't have to be the most expensive high-end Scoly. There are also some cheaper ones on the market.

Another great choice is Acanthophyllia. Please don't mistake them with Euphyllia. They are a bit more sensitive, especially the Torches.

4. Buying Tip

Only buy inflated animals, never the injured ones. It is essential because it doesn't matter what your dealer is saying. For example, if you purchase damaged corals, the chances are high that they will die in your tank.

5. Nettle Stung

Scully constantly attacked others, but never themselves. So, you can place a Scoly next to another of its kind. Lbophyllias are the worst. They are going to kill nearly every other coral in the same area. Also, Acanathatrea Echinata looks the same as Acan, but they are more dangerous than others.

So, the best way is to look closely at the coral you want to keep.

6. Temperature

Keeping the LPS corals a bit more colored than others is okay. So,  about 72.5 to 73.4 degrees Fehrehnite is the right temperature.

Avoid placing your LPS corals in a high-light zone is also recommended. So, please turn your LEDs a little bit down for their type of corals.

7. Current

Keep them out of the flow. Almost no LPS coral-like is to be positioned directly in solid flow.

So, the best current setup for an LPs tank is a pulse mode. Move everything and total current, for example, three to four times a day to flush dead areas in the tank.
