5 Ways to Make Money Breeding Fish - With 1 Tank!

Breeding fish for profit isn't one of the simplest things to do in this hobby. But here we've listed five ways to make money breeding fish in a single tank:

If you do it properly, you can make about $100 a month. Breeding for profit, you'll need to layer fish in the most sustainable way possible. This will include having a combination of livebearers, shrimp, snails, and plants.

Option 1

Endlers can be great fish to breed because they are easy. If you put the male and female together, in about three weeks, the females will start dropping fries.

They are great because they can survive in neutral tap water with a little hardness in them. Because they are small, they can't eat their fry. You can also add Shrimp and snails. Red, blue, or yellow cherry shrimp will be the best.

Have a good hiding place in the tank for the fries to hide from adults. You can also add java moss can be a great little source of income for a tank.

Option 2

In the second option, we have the same as before but just remove the Endlers. This way, you can produce more shrimp. Plus, it will not give you the diversity of all those different species to be able to sell, But you're going to have a mountain of shrimp in the tank.

Option 3

In the third setup, you'll add Guppies, snails, and java moss. This will produce a lot of Guppies and java moss.

Option 4

In the fourth setup, you can do Platy instead of Guppies in #3. Make sure you have ample hiding spaces and covers for the fries.

Option 3

For better income, you can also do the above setups in bigger tanks - 55 gallons- and double your results. Another thing you can do with a bigger tank is you can add a bristle nose to it and get four types of fish from a single tank.

You can make the most money by breeding good shrimp and java moss. But you'll need to re-set up the tank every year and might do the whole process again.
