Sabellastarte sp
Water parameters are being added.
This Feather Duster has a fan-shaped crown also known as radiole. It is tan or orange in color with bands. It can grow up to 7 inches in diameter. It is easy to maintain in the aquarium and it is reef-safe.
It is an omnivore and it mainly subsists on plankton for food. It should also be supplemented with phytoplankton and liquid organic food.
It is native to Hawaii and the Indo-Pacific region.
Like most invertebrates, the Feather Duster does not do well if there are large swings in water parameters. It also does not tolerate any type of metal traces in the water, therefore, it should never be in contact with any copper medications.
When taking the invertebrate out, expose it to as little light as possible and turn the aquarium lights off. Place the invertebrate container bag in the aquarium and let it float for 15 minutes. Open the bag and pour in 1 ounce of aquarium water into it, do so every 5 minutes until the water inside the bag has doubled. Wait for 5 minutes before pouring off half the water inside the bag into the aquarium. Then, slowly place each animal in the aquarium. Turn the aquarium lights on after an hour or more.
