Elegant Blenny

General information

The Elegant Blenny is a small saltwater fish that can grow up to 2 inches in length. They have a slender body with a pointed head and large eyes. They are generally peaceful and can be kept in a community aquarium with other small, non-aggressive fish. They are active swimmers and can be housed in aquariums with plenty of live rock, which they will use for hiding and grazing.

In the wild, Elegant Blennies feed on a variety of small crustaceans and other invertebrates. In an aquarium, they can be fed a diet of high-quality dry and frozen foods, such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and flakes. They can also benefit from occasional feedings of live or frozen foods, such as copepods, amphipods, and brine shrimp.

The Elegant Blenny is difficult to sex visually, as males and females have a similar appearance.

There is limited information available on breeding and spawning of the Elegant Blenny in captivity.

Elegant Blennies are generally hardy and not susceptible to many diseases if kept in a well-maintained aquarium. However, they can be prone to some common saltwater fish diseases, such as marine ich and velvet.

The Elegant Blenny is found in the western Pacific, from Indonesia to the Philippines and Taiwan.

The Elegant Blenny is not known to be venomous or harmful to humans. However, like all saltwater fish, it is important to handle them with care to prevent injury to the fish and the handler.

When introducing an Elegant Blenny to a new aquarium, it is important to acclimate them slowly to prevent shock or stress. The drip acclimation method is recommended, where water from the aquarium is slowly added to the bag containing the fish over a period of 1-2 hours.
