About Oriculate Batfish

General information

The Orbicular Batfish, also known as the Orbiculate Batfish or the Circular Batfish, is a species of saltwater fish that belongs to the Ephippidae family. It is native to the Indo-Pacific region and can be found in the waters from the eastern coast of Africa to southern Japan, down to Australia, and up to the Pacific Islands. The Orbicular Batfish is a relatively large fish that can grow up to 60 centimeters in length.

Diet & nutrition

In the wild, the Orbicular Batfish is an omnivorous fish, feeding on plankton, algae, and small fish. In captivity, it can be fed a diet of frozen or live brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, krill, and chopped seafood.

Determining sex

There are no known external differences between males and females.

Breeding & spawning

Breeding Orbicular Batfish in captivity is difficult and rare. There is no known method of breeding this species outside of the wild.
