About Red Spotted Sandperch

General information

The Red Spotted Sandperch exhibits beautiful red polka dots on its body. It grows to about 3 inches long and looks lovely when it rests on the bottom, hopping from one place to another. The Red Spotted Sandperch is considered completely reef safe, and generally eats worms, shrimps, and crabs present in the tank. Should be provided with many hiding spots, a thick sand bed and many live rocks. It is basically a bottom dweller and loves to spend its time resting at the bottom. It should not be housed with larger damselfish, larger dottybacks, and hawkfishes, because of its petite size it might become their snacks. Also, the Red Spotted Sandperch may quarrel with the same looking species and with the ones who also tend to inhabit the bottom side of the tank. When frightened, it might jump out of the aquarium, therefore keeping it inside a closed-lidded tank is recommended.
