The XRay Pristella Tetra is a peaceful freshwater fish species that is suitable for community aquariums. It has a translucent body with a silver-white coloration and a prominent black bar running horizontally along its body. This bar is what gives the fish its "X-ray" appearance. The fins are clear with a yellowish tint. The average size of this species is around 2 inches (5 cm) in length, making it suitable for small to medium-sized aquariums.

The XRay Pristella Tetra is an omnivore and will readily accept most types of food. It is recommended to feed them a varied diet consisting of high-quality flake, frozen, and live foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. It is essential to provide them with a balanced diet to ensure their overall health.

Males are generally slimmer and more brightly colored than females. During the breeding season, females will become noticeably rounder in the belly area.

The XRay Pristella Tetra is relatively easy to breed. They are egg scatterers and will deposit their eggs in plants or a breeding mop. The water should be slightly acidic with a pH of around 6.0-6.5 and a temperature of around 75-80°F (24-27°C). The eggs will hatch in approximately 24-48 hours, and the fry will become free-swimming in 2-3 days. It is recommended to separate the fry from the adults to prevent them from being eaten.

The XRay Pristella Tetra is susceptible to common fish diseases such as Ich and Velvet. It is essential to maintain a clean and healthy environment to prevent disease outbreaks.

The XRay Pristella Tetra is generally peaceful and is suitable for community aquariums. However, it is important to note that they may nip at the fins of other long-finned fish species. It is also essential to provide them with ample hiding spaces to help reduce stress levels.

It is recommended to acclimate the XRay Pristella Tetra to the aquarium water slowly. Float the bag containing the fish in the aquarium for 15-20 minutes to allow the temperature in the bag to adjust to that of the aquarium. Afterward, gradually add small amounts of aquarium water to the bag every 5-10 minutes until the volume in the bag has doubled. Once the volume has doubled, the fish can be safely released into the aquarium.
