The True L46 Zebra Pleco is a small species, growing to around 3-4 inches in length. They are typically nocturnal and shy, often hiding in caves or crevices during the day. Keeping them in a dimly lit aquarium with plenty of hiding places is essential. They prefer a pH range of 6.0-7.0 and a water temperature range of 78-82°F.

In the wild, True L46 Zebra Plecos are primarily carnivorous, feeding on insects, crustaceans, and other small aquatic animals. In captivity, they can be fed a varied diet, including high-quality sinking pellets, frozen or live bloodworms, and brine shrimp.

Males and females are difficult to distinguish. However, males have a slightly broader head and longer pectoral fins than females.

Breeding True L46 Zebra Plecos in captivity can be challenging. They require pristine water conditions, high oxygen levels, and caves or other suitable spawning sites. Females lay a small number of eggs, which the male will then fertilize and guard until hatching.
