About Reverse Toxic Hammer Euphyllia

General information

In general, corals from the genus Euphyllia have long tentacles that may stretch out 2 to 4 inches and are usually extended out most of the time. When the polyps are retracted, you can clearly see that each corallite is completely separated from each other and is encased by its own wall.

For the Reverse Toxic Hammer Euphyllia, they are predominatly colored neon green. This are the water parameters for cultivating Reverse Toxic Hammer Euphyllia:

  • Calcium: 420 – 440 ppm
  • Alkalinity: 2.86 – 3.93 MEQ/L (8 – 11 dKH)
  • Phosphates: 0
  • Magnesium: 1260 – 1350
  • Strontium: 8 -10
  • Temperature: 75° – 80° F (24° 27° C)
  • Salinity / Specific Gravity: 1.023 – 1.025
  • pH: 8.1 – 8.4

Diet & nutrition

The Reverse Toxic Hammer Euphyllia get its primary nutrition from the symbiotic zooxanthellae living within its tissues. However, we still do recommend you do supplemental feeding by adding mysis and brine shrimp.

Determining sex

A mature tank is highly recommended in propagating Reverse Toxic Hammer Euphyllia. They need to be set at the middle or bottom portion of the tank.

Breeding & spawning

Reverse Toxic Hammer Euphyllia requires moderate lighting and moderate to strong waterflow.

Diseases

The Reverse Toxic Hammer Euphyllia is prone to brown jelly infection, especially if there is minimal waterflow.

Origination

The Reverse Toxic Hammer Euphyllia can be found in the waters of the Indo-Pacific Ocean. They are considered as a threatened species listed under Appendix II of the CITES List, which means that their international trade is monitored.

Cautions

The Reverse Toxic Hammer Euphyllia has a semi-aggressive behaviour. With this, proper spacing in relation to other coral specimens is recommended.

Acclimation process

Since Reverse Toxic Hammer Euphyllia is a marine species, salinity must be entirely maintained at 1.023 to 1.025 specific gravity.
