About Green Bubble Coral Plerogyra

General information

In general, corals from the genus Plerogyra has a skeletal structure that is classified as flabello-meandroid. This means that their skeleton is not solid and not continuous. But instead, their skeletal structure has depressions or valleys. Their polyps can expand in a relatively large size that usually takes the form of grapes, tubes or irregular.

For the Green Bubble Coral Plerogyra, they are predominatly colored light blue with a green undertone on the side. This are the water parameters for cultivating Green Bubble Coral Plerogyra:

  • Calcium: 420 – 440 ppm
  • Alkalinity: 2.86 – 3.93 MEQ/L (8 – 11 dKH)
  • Phosphates: 0
  • Magnesium: 1260 – 1350
  • Strontium: 8 -10
  • Temperature: 75° – 80° F (24° 27° C)
  • Salinity / Specific Gravity: 1.023 – 1.025
  • pH: 8.1 – 8.4

Diet & nutrition

The Green Bubble Coral Plerogyra get its primary nutrition from the symbiotic zooxanthellae living within its tissues. However, we still do recommend you do supplemental feeding by adding mysis and brine shrimp.

Determining sex

A mature tank is highly recommended in propagating Green Bubble Coral Plerogyra. They need to be set at the middle or bottom portion of the tank.

Breeding & spawning

Green Bubble Coral Plerogyra requires moderate lighting and moderate waterflow.

Origination

The Green Bubble Coral Plerogyra can be found in the waters of the Indo-Pacific Ocean. They are considered as a threatened species listed under Appendix II of the CITES List, which means that their international trade is monitored.

Cautions

The Green Bubble Coral Plerogyra has a semi-aggressive behaviour. With this, proper spacing in relation to other coral specimens is recommended.

Acclimation process

Since Green Bubble Coral Plerogyra is a marine species, salinity must be entirely maintained at 1.023 to 1.025 specific gravity.
